Composer Help -Getting Started
Getting Started
First if you are using Netscape - run Netscape and then from the Tasks menu in the menubar at the top of the screen select and click on Composer.

You will now be presented with a completely blank page.

The first thing you should do is give your page a Title, to do this select Format from the menu bar select and click on Page Title and Properties and the following window will appear.

![]()

Enter your Page Title, Your Name and Page Description, if your not sure or happy about your title or description you can always come back here later and update them.
Then next thing to do is save your page to your project folder. What you call your page is entirely up to you but avoid using spaces in the name, for the purposes of OU if this is your homepage it is normal practice to name this as index.html or index.htm - Composer will give you file the html extension be default. For other pages you can name them as you please but avoid using spaces in the file name if you need to put spaces in the name use underscore _ instead. Save your file by going to 'File -> Save As' from the menubar or click on the Save icon in the task bar.

Now the choice is yours as to what you do next, you could change the page colour, add a background to your page, type your content and then add images and/or buttons or you could use a table for your page layout. Sunday, 3 October, 2010 14:47 select the required option from the menu at the top of the page, the menu is available from all the pages within this Composer help section.
You will probably be using a table to format the layout of your page - you could start with the tables page, perhaps you would rather set you page colours first - then go to colours. Once you have some text in your page you might want to insert a picture or format the text with headings and paragraphs.
