T171 ECA - Exercise 4 from Module 2 - Concept Maps
Concept Maps
They are, as their name suggests, a graphical representation of the key concepts within a topic with links between them. They are an extremely useful way of summarising a topic. The other OU course I am taking this year "THD204 Information Technology and Society" makes extensive use of them.
Module 2 tells the story of the PC from its development, architecture, the computer industry and its impact on our daily lives. Exercise 4 was to construct a concept map to show the important players in the development of the PC, these included personalities, companies, how technologies fit in and abstract concepts such as "New ways of working".
This was not my first exposure to concept maps, I first encountered them on a report writing course some years ago and have found them very useful when writing essays to link all the information and my ideas together when essay planning. This is not my first year with OU and I have also used concept maps on other courses, so the only benefit I got here was to hone my already acquired skills.
This was my attempt at Exercise 4 - Concept Maps
