Help with Frontpage Express - Inserting Anchors

Inserting Anchors (Bookmarks)

To create a link within the same page, for example a link that the reader can use to jump from one section to another, you must create an anchor (target location), and then create a link that points to the anchor. Anchors in FrontPage Express are known as Bookmarks.

The procedure to insert a bookmark follows:

Type some text at the point where you want your Bookmark or highlight some previously typed text - a single word will do.

Edit menu

Go to the Edit menu and select Edit -> Bookmark and the following window will open.

Bookmark dialog

The 'Bookmark Name' will be the same as the word you highlighted - you can change this if you wish the select OK to accept.

Now go to the point at which you want to insert your link - either type the name by which you want your link known and highlight it or you can accept whatever FrontPage will call it, the former is the better method.

Go to Edit -> Hyperlink or click on the Hyperlink button Link Button and the following dialog opens:

Hyperlink dialog

Select the Open Pages tab - then the page you are working on should be in the open pages box. Go to the Bookmark pull-down list and select the name of the Bookmark you just created. Select OK to accept and that the Bookmark/Anchor inserted.

Note: No entry is required for Target Frame unless you are working with frames.

Should you wish to link to a specific point in another page just create the bookmark in the page to be linked to then mark sure you have both pages open in FrontPage. Go to page to have the link inserted then follow this procedure the difference being that the Bookmark will be on the other page.
