Hi, this is my submission for the Webpage content of Open University
Course T171 You, Your Computer and the Net TMA02.

As
someone who has been waistline challenged for more years than I care
to admit I have decided to make my topic Diet for Fitness. I have tried
many diets over the years and have finally found one that works for
me. One thing to remember about diets: You don't fail your diet - your
diet fails you! That is to say when you are on a diet and you just can't
wait to get off it because you feel deprived of certain items, once
the diet is complete you return to a more normal then weight just piles
back on and more. This site is mainly concerned with diets since loosing
weight will help you to become fitter. Where the sites I have used have
some exercise tips I have mentioned this in my site reviews, any diet
will benefit from some kind of exercise program.
The following information and links to sites is just a minuscule sample
of the information of diets and associated fitness regimes available
on the Internet. Enjoy!

WARNING! If you have
any health concerns you should consult you doctor before embarking on
a diet or fitness program.

Weightwatchers
For
my first site I have chosen the name that is synonymous with dieting
for fitness. The main site is
www.weightwatchers.com and you may follow this link if you wish,
however it tends to be American in flavour and weight is quoted in pounds
only. I prefer the UK part of this site, which you
can
reach from here by selecting United Kingdom from the international sites,
once at the UK site you can navigate the pages using the left-hand menu
or use this link: www.weightwatchers.co.uk
The site explains their approach to dieting through the "pure points"
system in which each food has a points value and you are allowed a certain
number of points per day. You may register here for Weightwatchers if
you so desire and find out where your local meetings are. There are
plenty of exercise tips, recipes, explanations of the diets and being
a commercial site you can purchase items online. Altogether a well laid
out site and well worth a visit.

Slimfast

Another site from a well-known supplier of dietary products, we have
all seen the TV ads extolling the virtues of the "Slimfast Diet".
Site is well laid out and navigation is easy using the side menu bar.
Once on the site you can find out more about the Slimfast Plan, find
recipes even sign up for their free newsletter. There's a good Q&A
section and you can also ask the experts about the diet. You will also
find some fitness tips. If you want you can join the buddy program which
puts you in contact with others on the diet for mutual support via email.
Visit www.slimfast.com
for more about Slimfast.

Another
well laid out site. Learn the benefits of a balanced and nutritious
diet combined with a regular exercise schedule. You will find a good
well explained diet section here. The site will also answer all your
weight questions and there are charts to work out whether you are under
or overweight. There is also a calculator to work out you Body Mass
Index (BMI) plus tips on exercise. This site is an excellent resource
to get you looking and feeling as fit as you can. Visit the UK site
www.caloriecounter.co.uk
for more about Calorie Counter. You could also visit the American site
at www.caloriecounter.com
which is a massive resource with links to hundreds of diet and fitness
sites on the web.

Fad
Diet Dot Com
This
is a rather tongue in cheek site, which doesn't take itself too seriously.
This is another well laid out site, use the left-hand menu to navigate
the site and there is plenty of information here. You can find diets
such as Grapefruit/Fruit Juice, The Russian Air Force Diet and a rather
amusing Caveman diet written up as a diary for a week. Build your own
fad diet at this site if you wish! This is an excellent site dealing
with some of the more unusual diets and is well worth a visit. Visit
www.faddiet.com for
more unusual diets.

Atkins
Center
This
is a well laid out offering a great deal of useful information about
this radical way of dieting. This diet is completely different to the
more usual low fat and calorie-counting diets, in fact you are positively
encouraged to eat almost everything those type of diets ban. This type
of diet is a low carbohydrate diet sometimes called the "Caveman
Diet" because of its high protein content. This diet has become
increasingly in popular over
the past few years especially in America. Want to know more, visit the
Atkins Center where you will find all the information you require for
this kind of dieting. I use this diet and have lost over 4 stones and
still loosing. The site explains the diet, there are medical reports
about the diet, answers to critics of the diet plus testimonials from
people who have used it. Dr. Robert Atkins MD. claims 20 million people
world-wide have used this program and that it has a 98% success rate.
Visit www.atkinscenter.com
for more information.
If I've wetted your appetite why not search the web for more information
- use one of the Search Engine links or use you favourite Search Engine
if it doesn't appear in the right-hand navigation panel.
